Child Safety Policy

Our zero-tolerance stance on child sexual exploitation and our minimum-age policy.

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Effective Date: 8 August 2026
Last Updated: 8 August 2026

This Policy consolidates and expands on child-safety commitments already present in the Terms and Conditions (the "Children" clause of the Data Handling Terms module, and the absolute prohibition on content that sexualizes or endangers a minor in the User-Generated Content Terms module), the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines, and the Travel Companion Safety Policy. It is written with particular care around terminology relating to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and exploitation, and is deliberately conservative about claiming controls that do not currently exist in the product.

1. Zero Tolerance

Onyatrips has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM), child sexual exploitation, grooming, or any sexualization or endangerment of a minor, in any form, anywhere on the Platform. This is an absolute prohibition with no exceptions, consistent with the User-Generated Content Terms module of the Terms and Conditions.

2. Minimum Age

Onyatrips is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older. The Platform is not directed to children and is not designed for use by anyone under 18, consistent with the Privacy Policy, the Terms and Conditions, and the Travel Companion Safety Policy.

2.1 Current enforcement status — an honest disclosure

Our profile-update validation currently accepts an "age" value between 13 and 100, and there is no date-of-birth field or age check at account registration. This means the stated 18+ minimum age is not currently technically enforced by the product, notwithstanding that it is our stated policy and contractual requirement. Correcting this — registration-time age gating aligned to 18+, and correcting the 13–100 validation range — is a critical priority for us. Until it is corrected, this Policy's other provisions describe our intended and contractual position, not a fully technically enforced one — we are not representing otherwise.

We do not offer a parental- or guardian-consent mechanism for use by a minor, because the Platform is not designed for minor use at all — unlike some products that permit supervised minor accounts, Onyatrips has no such pathway, planned or implemented.

3. Age Verification — What We Do and Do Not Do

We do not currently perform government-ID-based age verification, document-based age verification, or any third-party age-verification/estimation service. Age is currently a self-reported field. Combined with Section 2.1, this means a person under 18 could currently misrepresent their age and access the Platform; we cannot represent otherwise, and this Policy does not claim a technical safeguard that does not exist.

4. If We Learn a User Is a Minor

If we become aware, through a report, investigation, or otherwise, that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will take steps to disable the account and delete the associated Personal Data, consistent with the "Children" clause of the Data Handling Terms module of the Terms and Conditions and applicable law (including the DPDP Act's provisions on children's data). We do not currently have a formally documented, step-by-step internal procedure for this scenario beyond the general commitment above; formalizing one is recommended.

5. Interactions Between Adults and Minors

Because the Platform is intended exclusively for adults, any indication that a User is attempting to interact with, solicit, groom, or arrange contact with a minor — whether that minor is using the Platform in violation of our age requirement or is being discussed/targeted from outside the Platform — is treated as a maximum-severity violation, resulting in immediate account action (see Section 9) without a prior warning, regardless of our general moderation-discretion framework described in the Community Guidelines.

6. Prohibited Conduct Relating to Minors

This includes, without limitation:

  • Uploading, sharing, requesting, or soliciting CSAM in any format (image, video, audio, text, or AI-generated/synthetic depiction).
  • Sexualizing a minor in any content, description, or communication.
  • Grooming behavior — building trust with, or manipulating, someone believed to be a minor for a sexual, exploitative, or otherwise harmful purpose.
  • Sexual solicitation of, or sexual communication with, a minor.
  • Attempting to arrange an offline meeting, trip, or shared accommodation with a minor.
  • Financial or identity exploitation of a minor.
  • Harassment, threats, or manipulation directed at a minor.
  • Using the Platform's companion, group, or messaging features to identify or target minors.

7. Content and Communication Channels in Scope

This Policy applies across every surface where content or communication can occur on the Platform, including profile content (photos, bios), messages (direct and group chat), group/trip listings, reviews, and uploaded media (images, videos, audio, and documents), consistent with the upload categories described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Detection and Moderation — Current State

We want to be precise, not aspirational, about detection capability:

  • We do not currently operate automated CSAM-detection technology (such as hash-matching against known-CSAM databases, e.g., PhotoDNA or an equivalent) on uploaded media.
  • Chat moderation is not currently live on the message-send path, as described in the Community Guidelines. A separate automated moderation tool exists but is not connected to the live chat flow and does not perform CSAM-specific detection in any form.
  • Detection today relies primarily on User reports, submitted through the general in-app feedback form's "safety & trust" category (which includes an "Underage User Concern" option) or by emailing legal@onyatrips.com, and on manual review by our team.

We are not satisfied that report-only detection is sufficient for a platform with this risk profile. Introducing automated CSAM detection on uploads and a faster, dedicated report path are leading priorities for us.

9. Enforcement

Any confirmed violation involving CSAM, sexualization of a minor, or predatory conduct toward a minor results in immediate, permanent account termination without prior warning, removal of the associated content, preservation of relevant evidence, and referral to the appropriate authorities as described in Section 10. This is a stricter and non-discretionary version of the general enforcement ladder described in the Community Guidelines.

Where we identify or receive a credible report of CSAM or child sexual exploitation connected to the Platform, we will preserve the relevant evidence and report it to the appropriate authorities, which may include the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Indian law-enforcement authorities, consistent with the User-Generated Content Terms module of the Terms and Conditions and applicable law (including obligations that may arise under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and the Information Technology Act, 2000).

11. Evidence Preservation and Law Enforcement Cooperation

We may preserve account information, content, and related records in connection with a suspected child-safety violation, and may disclose them to law-enforcement and child-protection authorities in response to valid legal process or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect a child, consistent with the Law Enforcement Request Policy and the Terms and Conditions.

12. Privacy of Reports

Reports concerning suspected child-safety violations are handled with heightened confidentiality, restricted to personnel involved in reviewing and acting on the report and any necessary legal or law-enforcement disclosure, consistent with the Privacy Policy.

13. For Parents and Guardians

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child is using Onyatrips in violation of our 18+ policy, or has been contacted through or in connection with the Platform, please report it immediately via the channels in Section 14. We will treat this as an emergency-priority report.

14. Reporting

  • In-app: Feedback/support form → "Safety & Trust" category → "Underage User Concern" or equivalent.
  • Email: legal@onyatrips.com, marked "URGENT — CHILD SAFETY."
  • If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first (in India, dial 112) — do not wait for a response from Onyatrips.

As with general safety reporting described in the Community Guidelines, we do not currently have a dedicated, one-tap in-app report button; today's path is the general feedback form and direct email. Building a faster, dedicated child-safety escalation path is a priority for us.

15. International Considerations

Child-protection standards, mandatory reporting thresholds, and the definition of a "minor" can vary by jurisdiction. Our 18+ minimum age policy is applied uniformly regardless of any jurisdiction with a lower age of majority.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as our safety tooling and legal understanding evolve. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last Updated" date above.
