The behavior we expect from everyone on Onyatrips.

These Community Guidelines explain, in plain language, the standards of conduct expected of everyone using Onyatrips. They should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, which remain the controlling agreement between you and Onyatrips.
Onyatrips exists to help people discover places and find travel companions and groups. That only works if people can trust who they're talking to and what they're walking into. These Community Guidelines set out the behavior we expect from everyone who uses Onyatrips, what happens when those expectations aren't met, and — importantly — what we can and cannot realistically guarantee about enforcement. They should be read together with the Travel Companion Safety Policy, which focuses specifically on the risks of meeting people offline.
These Guidelines apply to every User of Onyatrips — anyone with an account, and anyone using our messaging, group, review, or discovery features — regardless of whether the interaction happens through profiles, group listings, direct messages, group chats, reviews, or any other feature we offer now or in the future. They apply to conduct on the Platform and, where it affects the safety or trust of our community, to conduct connected to Onyatrips that happens off-platform (for example, harassment continued over another channel after being introduced through Onyatrips).
This section groups prohibited conduct by category. It mirrors and elaborates on the "Prohibited Content" list in the Terms and Conditions (User-Generated Content Terms, Clause 6) — it does not replace it.
Because Onyatrips centers on connecting people who may go on to meet, travel, and share accommodation together, some rules apply specifically to that context:
Current reporting path (honest description of what exists today): Onyatrips does not yet have a dedicated in-app "report user," "report message," or "block user" button wired to a moderation queue. Today, the way to report a concern is through the general in-app feedback/support form, which includes a "safety & trust" category (covering concerns such as suspected underage users, harassment, or scams), and by emailing legal@onyatrips.com directly for urgent matters. Reviews can be individually flagged for admin review through the reviews feature.
We are aware this is not the dedicated, one-tap reporting and blocking experience Users should ultimately have on a platform built around meeting strangers, and building it (in-chat report/block, a structured moderation queue, and case tracking) is one of our highest product priorities.
If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Reporting to Onyatrips is not a substitute for contacting the police, and we cannot respond in real time to an in-progress emergency.
We want to be direct about the current state of moderation rather than imply capabilities that don't yet exist:
We are not able to review every piece of content or every interaction, and we do not guarantee that we will detect, prevent, or remove all violations of these Guidelines. The existence of these Guidelines, and any moderation action we do take, should not be understood as a guarantee of a moderated or curated experience — see the Travel Companion Safety Policy for what this means for your own safety practices.
Depending on the nature and severity of a violation, and consistent with the discretion reserved to us under the Terms and Conditions (User-Generated Content Terms, Clause 10), we may take any of the following actions, with or without prior notice:
| Response | When it may apply |
|---|---|
| Content removal | A specific message, review, photo, or listing violates these Guidelines |
| Warning | A first or minor violation where we believe the User should have the chance to correct their behavior |
| Feature restriction | Repeated or moderate violations (e.g., temporarily limiting messaging or group creation) |
| Temporary suspension | Serious or repeated violations |
| Permanent account termination | Severe violations (e.g., sexual content involving a minor, credible threats of violence, confirmed scams, doxxing) or repeat offenses after prior enforcement |
| Immediate termination without warning | Any violation involving child sexual exploitation material, credible threats of violence, or conduct posing an imminent safety risk |
We may also decline to reinstate a terminated account and may take reasonable steps to prevent someone we have removed from creating a new account.
We do not currently have a formal, structured appeals process (a dedicated form, ticketing flow, or published SLA for review). If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may currently contact legal@onyatrips.com to request review; requests will be handled manually by our team. We intend to build a defined appeals workflow as the Platform matures.
We do not promise that every enforcement decision will be reversed on appeal, or that appeals will be resolved within a specific timeframe until such a process is formally adopted.
Accounts with a pattern of violations, or that attempt to evade a suspension or ban by creating a new account, are subject to escalated enforcement, up to and including permanent removal and, where we reasonably believe it is warranted, referral to law enforcement.
Where required or permitted by applicable law, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent harm, fraud, or illegality, we may preserve account information, content, and related records, and may disclose them to law-enforcement, regulatory, or judicial authorities in response to valid legal process. This mirrors the "Evidence Preservation and Law-Enforcement Cooperation" clause of the User-Generated Content Terms in our Terms and Conditions, and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Moderation decisions involve judgment calls, especially in gray areas (satire vs. harassment, blunt feedback vs. abuse, a scam vs. a legitimate but unusual financial arrangement). We aim to be fair and consistent, but we do not guarantee a particular outcome in any individual case, and taking action (or not taking action) in one case does not obligate us to take the same action in a similar case.
We may update these Community Guidelines as our Platform, features, and understanding of emerging risks evolve. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last Updated" date above.
