Business Listing Policy

How a business gets listed on Onyatrips, and what's expected of it.

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Effective Date: 8 August 2026
Last Updated: 8 August 2026

This Policy is grounded in Onyatrips' actual business-onboarding system: a form-based application (business name, type, description, contact and address details, pricing, amenities, images, GST and PAN numbers, and an uploaded registration document) that is reviewed and approved or rejected by an Onyatrips administrator, with a logged audit trail of status changes. It should be read together with the Review and Rating Policy, which governs how a listed business is reviewed and rated by Users.

1. Purpose and Scope

This Policy governs how a business (hotel, restaurant, tour operator, or other travel-related business) may be listed on Onyatrips, what information and verification is required, how listings are evaluated and ranked, and how we enforce this Policy against non-compliant listings.

2. Eligible Business Categories

Our confirmed business-onboarding system supports the following categories: hotel, resort, hostel, homestay, restaurant, cafe, activity provider, transport, tour operator, and an "other" catch-all category.

We do not currently publish a geographic-eligibility restriction (e.g., "India only") in the business-onboarding system, though Onyatrips' current focus and legal presence is India, as reflected in the Privacy Policy. A business must be a legally operating entity or individual proprietor entitled to provide the services it lists, and must have the legal right to submit the information, GST/PAN details, and documentation it provides.

4. Business Onboarding and Verification — What We Actually Do

A prospective listing is submitted through our business-onboarding form, which collects: business name, category, description; contact email and phone; full address (with geocoded coordinates); room count and amenities (where relevant); check-in/check-out times; pricing; logo, cover image, and property images; GST number; PAN number; and an uploaded registration document. Each submission is reviewed by an Onyatrips administrator, who approves or rejects it (with a rejection reason where applicable), and every status change is recorded in an internal audit log together with the reviewing administrator's identity and timestamp.

What this verification does, and does not, establish: this process confirms that a business submitted plausible identifying documentation (GST/PAN format and a registration document) and that an administrator reviewed the submission before it went live. It is a manual document-and-description review, not an independent, third-party-verified confirmation of the business's legal status, ownership, physical existence, or the accuracy of every detail submitted. We do not currently perform independent verification with the GST or PAN issuing authorities, an in-person or third-party ownership check, or ongoing re-verification after initial approval. This Policy does not claim otherwise.

5. Unverified vs. Verified — What "Approved" Means

A listing displayed on the Platform has, at minimum, passed the manual admin-approval step described in Section 4 — we do not currently display unapproved/pending listings publicly. We do not currently operate a separate, higher "Verified" trust badge distinct from ordinary approval (for example, indicating a deeper identity-verification tier); if introduced, this Policy will describe precisely what such a badge does and does not confirm.

6. Duplicate, Fake, and Fraudulent Listings

A business may not submit multiple listings for the same physical establishment, misrepresent its legal existence, submit fabricated GST/PAN information or a fraudulent registration document, or list a business it does not own or is not authorized to represent. We do not currently operate an automated duplicate-listing detection mechanism; duplicate submissions are expected to be caught through manual admin review rather than automated matching. Submitting fabricated onboarding documentation may result in immediate rejection, suspension of any existing listings by the same submitter, and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement consistent with the Law Enforcement Request Policy.

7. Business Listing Information Standards

Listing information (name, address, contact details, hours, pricing, services, and description) must be accurate, current, and not misleading. A business is responsible for promptly updating its listing when material details change (for example, a change of address, closure, or a change of ownership). Updates to a live listing currently go through contacting support rather than a self-service listing-update flow.

Edge case — business closure or acquisition: a business that closes, or is acquired and rebrands, should update or request removal of its listing; a listing left live and inaccurate after closure is itself a form of misleading information subject to this Policy.

8. Images, Video, and Rights

A business submitting a logo, cover image, or property images represents that it owns or has the necessary rights and licenses to submit those images, consistent with the licensing and warranty framework in the Terms and Conditions' User-Generated Content module (which this Policy treats as applicable to business-submitted media as a category of User-submitted content). Uploading a copyrighted photograph the business does not have rights to (for example, a stock or competitor photo) is prohibited and subject to the Copyright Policy.

9. Pricing Transparency

Displayed pricing should reflect what a customer can actually expect to pay, including clearly disclosing any mandatory taxes or fees where feasible, consistent with the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 and the Legal Compliance Framework.

10. Editorial and Automated Evaluation of Listings

Beyond the manual admin approval/rejection step described in Section 4, we do not currently apply an automated or AI-based evaluation system to business listings. Any future automated evaluation (for example, flagging suspicious pricing patterns or duplicate content) would be disclosed here, consistent with the Responsible AI Policy, including its limitations and the availability of human review.

11. Search Visibility and Ranking

Listings are surfaced through standard database querying and filtering rather than a documented, business-listing-specific ranking algorithm. This Policy does not claim a specific ranking methodology (e.g., factoring in rating, recency, or completeness of listing information) beyond what is confirmed. If a defined ranking methodology is adopted, it will be described here, consistent with the ranking-independence commitments in Section 12.

12. Sponsored Listings and Paid Placement

We do not currently operate a paid-placement or sponsored-listing product. If introduced, sponsored listings will be clearly and distinctly labeled as such, will not be permitted to misrepresent themselves as organic/independently ranked results, and this Policy will be updated with the specific disclosure format used.

13. Reviews on Business Listings

Reviews and ratings of a listed business are governed by the Review and Rating Policy, including its prohibitions on review manipulation, self-review, and retaliatory conduct by businesses against reviewers — those prohibitions apply in full to businesses listed under this Policy.

Edge case — a business paying customers for positive reviews: this is prohibited under both this Policy and the Review and Rating Policy, and may result in listing suspension in addition to removal of the affected reviews.

14. Prohibited Practices

In addition to the conduct described elsewhere in this Policy, a business listing must not: contain spam, keyword-stuffing, or SEO-manipulation content unrelated to genuinely describing the business; promote an illegal service or activity; misrepresent safety, licensing, or regulatory status; or engage in bait-and-switch pricing (advertising one price while charging another).

15. Trademark, Impersonation, and Competitor Abuse

A business must not impersonate another business, use another business's name, logo, or trademark without authorization, or submit a listing designed to divert customers from a competitor through confusion (for example, using a confusingly similar name or address). Trademark complaints concerning a business listing are handled consistent with the Intellectual Property Policy and Copyright Policy (for copyright-specific complaints, e.g., stolen photography).

Edge case — a legitimate competitor listing near an existing business: operating a genuinely separate, legitimately owned competing business near or similar to an existing listing is not, by itself, a violation; what is prohibited is deceptive use of another's identity or trademark, not lawful competition.

16. Removal, Suspension, and Emergency Takedown

We may temporarily hide, suspend, or permanently remove a business listing where: it violates this Policy or the Terms and Conditions; it is the subject of a valid legal complaint, government order, or law-enforcement request (see the Law Enforcement Request Policy); it presents a credible safety risk to Users; or the business requests removal. Where we reasonably believe a listing poses an imminent safety risk (for example, evidence of illegal activity or a serious safety violation), we may remove it immediately without prior notice to the business.

17. Enforcement

ResponseWhen it may apply
Listing correction requestMinor inaccuracy or incomplete information
Temporary hidingPending investigation of a credible complaint
Listing removalConfirmed policy violation
Business account suspensionRepeated violations, fraudulent onboarding documentation, or review manipulation
Permanent account terminationSevere violations (fraud, safety risk, repeated bad-faith conduct)

18. Appeals and Reinstatement

A business may contact us to dispute a removal or suspension decision, providing evidence relevant to the dispute (see Section 23). Requests are handled manually by our team, consistent with the general approach described in the Community Guidelines.

19. Business Rights and Responsibilities

A business has the right to: accurate representation of the information it submits (subject to our editorial and safety-driven removal rights); a reasonable opportunity to respond to a removal or suspension decision; and to request removal of its own listing. A business is responsible for: the accuracy of all submitted information and documentation; promptly updating its listing when details change; complying with this Policy, the Terms and Conditions, and applicable law in its own operations; and not engaging in the prohibited practices described above.

20. Platform Responsibilities

Onyatrips is responsible for: operating the manual review process described in Section 4 in good faith; acting on credible complaints and legal requests; and being honest, as this Policy aims to be, about what our verification process does and does not confirm. Onyatrips is not responsible for independently verifying every factual claim a business makes, and does not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of any listed business, consistent with the Disclaimer.

21. International Compliance

This Policy is written against Indian law. As Onyatrips' business-listing footprint expands beyond India, jurisdiction-specific business-registration, consumer-protection, and marketplace-liability requirements of the relevant jurisdiction will apply in addition to this Policy.

22. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as our business-onboarding and listing features evolve. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last Updated" date above.
